Greenhouse gas emissions associated with four types of fertilization for corn crops in a Mediterranean basin

چکیده
The environmental impacts associated with the intensification of agricultural practices have become an emerging issue, and new techniques are being developed to satisfy public demands. application fertilizers is a crucial step for agriculture practices. Building upon previous studies at Mediterranean basin, objective research presented herein was quantify greenhouse gas emissions four different types fertilization in production corn: traditional (NPK 8–15-15 urea), controlled-release 8–15-15, combination urea encapsulated two pig slurry amounts urea). Life Cycle Assessment methodology employed, Ecoinvent database IPCC 2013 GWP 100y impact assessment method. results revealed that emitted 3251 kg CO2-eq/ha·year, against 2191 CO2-eq/ha·year fertilization. Pig 2160 its alternative less urea, only 1030 CO2-eq/ha·year. utilization solves issue disposal entails lower costs (commercial fertilizer prices follow oil gas). demonstrated potential contribute climate change mitigation.

Reducing Australia’s Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Interim targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions are essential to put Australia on track toward the deep emissions cuts required by 2050. This report fi nds that by 2020, emission reductions of greater than 30 per cent below 1990 levels are possible, but only with a wide range of concerted actions in the energy, industry and land-use sectors. If the contributions from energy effi ciency in th...

متن کاملGreenhouse gas emissions from rice
Rice provides the staple food for over 60% of the world’s population. Globally 80% of rice is grown by small farmers in low income and developing nations, and in India rice farming is a key source of employment for the 60% of Indian workers still dependent on agriculture for work. Yet rice production is also an important source of greenhouse gas emissions, for example responsible for between 3 ...
متن کاملOn strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Equity is of fundamental concern in the quest for international cooperation to stabilize greenhouse gas concentrations by the reduction of emissions. By modeling the carbon cycle, we estimate the global CO(2) emissions that would be required to stabilize the atmospheric concentration of CO(2) at levels ranging from 450 to 1,000 ppm. These are compared, on both an absolute and a per-capita basis...
